Summer Entertaining Tips

It’s time for some summer entertaining and I can’t wait to reconnect with friends and family outdoors. I’m sharing a couple of our favorite summer drink recipes with you here, and even an upbeat playlist or two for your next summer soiree.

Summer is my family’s favorite time of year and we’re planning to soak up some sunshine on Cape Cod with friends we haven’t seen in ages. We’ve had such a heat wave in Boston this week that I’ve been searching for a refreshing cold cocktail to serve for guests. I found this Frozen Paloma recipe on Barefoot Contessa recently and it looks and sounds delicious!

This is the perfect late afternoon cocktail to have with friends after a day at the beach. I can make a batch the night before, freeze it, and just blend with a little ice and salt before serving. I’ll probably serve it with some simple snacks like pretzel crisps and hummus, or throw some cheeseburgers on the grill if it looks like friends are staying longer. And with these delicious cocktails they just might stay all night!

If you’re more of a vodka fan, this Limoncello Vodka Collins is just as refreshing. You can make a pitcher ahead of time, and then add the club soda when guests arrive.

For some tunes, I’ll put a playlist on our outdoor bluetooth speaker which travels with us everywhere in the summer, from home to the beach, and back again. If you’re a Spotify listener, “Backyard BBQ” is a good station for crowd pleasing classic tunes like The Eagles “Take It Easy”. “Summer Party” has some great upbeat tunes like “One Kiss” with Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa once the evening gets going.

If Pandora is your go-to station then my favorite is “Indie Singer-Songwriters Radio” for the beginning of a party. “Poolside Miami Chill Radio” is also a good one if you’re in the mood for something different. I like to imagine that our Weston clients are playing it while they're enjoying their fabulous new pool pictured below. We just installed these outdoor spaces for them a few weeks ago and I can’t wait to share the professional photos with you soon!

We hope it's a great start to summer and you're able to see some close friends and family to reconnect.
