These empty nesters knew they wanted to be both in the city and by the water, and Boston’s waterfront, in the midst of a major residential resurgence, was the perfect place to roost. As part of a full renovation of this penthouse loft, Rachel Reider Interiors created a modern urban design scheme replete with luxe finishes and layered textures that ties the space and environment together. A living room wall in varying shades of antique mirrored glass both reflects the water and makes a bold statement, while the fireplace wall of chiseled limestone tile mimics its movement. In the kitchen, unique finishes such as leather, burnished metal, and wire-brushed lacquered cabinetry give off a downtown vibe, accented by a rippled backsplash that references the spectacular view.
