While this family loves raising their three young girls in the heart of Manhattan the countryside in nearby Connecticut provides a much-needed calming counterpoint. Trading in
skyline living on weekends and summer vacation, the owners were eager to bring new life to this beautiful Victorian. Rachel Reider Interiors created a renovation and design plan that would respect the existing elegant period details while reflecting the family’s more youthful and casual style. The interiors are an eclectic mix of old and new, as evidenced by the traditional forms found throughout covered with modern and family-friendly fabrics. Strong pops of color on the woodwork and kitchen cabinetry stand out against a neutral palette of gray, white and black, with architectural light fixtures drawing the eye upward. The home is now equally ready for entertaining and low-key quality family time.
