When this globe trotting family decided to return from overseas, they picked a Back Bay penthouse that exuded Boston charm but lacked the modern touches they desired. To achieve the right balance, bold design elements such as rich jewel tones, lux fabrics and highly textured materials that reflected the clients' personal taste were mixed with more traditional pieces that respected the historical architecture of the building and neighborhood. The crowning design jewel was the couple's abundant collection of art and antiques from their adventures abroad. The result was an interior that was highly functional for a growing family but also well suited for frequent entertaining.
