Holiday Decorating with Modern Metallic Flair

December is the month to layer in some holiday cheer at home. In my own home, I lean towards a modern approach focusing on metallics and texture to set a festive mood. Bottle brush trees in silver and gold are placed on the mantel and this year I’ve added some bright hues in teal and blue. Add a bit of fresh greenery if you like, and the warm glow of fairy lights.

Every year I buy a few more metallic and bottle brush trees to add to the collection and find it’s an easy way to decorate for the holidays.  I sprinkle the mantel with a few trees, place some fresh green boughs from the market (or my backyard), and loop a couple strings of fairy lights in the mix.  The lights are battery operated with a remote so they are easy to operate and instantly put me in a holiday mood when I get home from work.

I always have a few holiday crafts to display, some from my two daughters and one over-the-top Gingerbread House from the annual holiday afternoon at the office.  It’s always a fun-filled way to connect about upcoming holiday plans and share some friendly competition for the most well-designed house.  The pre-built gingerbread houses save a little time and we get straight to decorating (after much pre-planning the day before about our designs).  It can be as fun for the adults as the kids and I look forward to it every year. What is your favorite holiday tradition?

We wish you the best this holiday season and hope you are able to enjoy some special days with friends and family at home.  Here’s to 2020!

Until next time,
